Haviva Ner-David is completing her doctorate at Bar Ilan University, writing about the relationship between tumah and niddah. She also has been studying towards Orthodox smicha for several years. Haviva's book, Life on the Fringes: A Feminist Journey Towards Traditional Rabbinic Ordination, discusses her personal experiences as a traditional Jewish feminist as well as halakhic exploration on topics related to women in Judaism. She is currently working on a sequel to that book and has written several chapters for anthologies, as well as articles. Haviva teaches a course on Women in Halakhah at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and teaches women and/or couples about the laws of niddah. She is an active member of Women of the Wall and Mavoi Satum.
