Dr. Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg has been teaching Torah for the past thirty years at leading institutions for Torah study in Jerusalem. Her PhD (in English Literature) is from Cambridge University. She travels widely, lecturing on Torah at synagogues, community centers, universities, and psychoanalytic institutes. She brings a fresh viewpoint to the midrash by invoking insights from literature, philosophy, and in particular, from psychoanalysis. She has published three widely acclaimed books on the interface between biblical/midrashic and literary/psychoanalytic topics: The Beginning of Desire: Reflections on Genesis (winner of the National Jewish Book Award), The Particulars of Rapture: Reflections on Exodus, and The Murmuring Deep: Reflections on the Biblical Unconscious. She holds an honorary doctorate from JTS. Her annual lecture tour is usually between Pesach and Shavuoth. She travels with a list of lecture topics which change each year.
